As widely anticipated, Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has criticized her fellow actor, Zubby Michael, for his public cash donation to the family of their late colleague, Junior Pope.
According to a report by Kemi Filani, Zubby Michael had displayed generosity towards the family of the deceased during his funeral by presenting them with substantial amounts of money.
In a post on her Instagram story, Angela expressed disapproval of Zubby’s actions, suggesting that if he truly intended to support Junior Pope’s family financially, he should have done so discreetly. She recalled instances where she covertly assisted him financially and rebuked him for orchestrating a public display of his donation by hiring a videographer.
Angela admonished Zubby to refrain from such ostentation and insinuated her awareness of his tendency towards self-promotion.
“Zubby, if you genuinely wanted to assist Junior Pope’s family, you should have done so discreetly. The way I used to quietly offer you financial support back in the day, without anyone’s knowledge. Yet, you chose to orchestrate a public spectacle by having a videographer capture you presenting bundles of money to JP’s family. We are all familiar with your penchant for self-promotion. Just leave, please.
Junior Pope was a young individual. The ostentatious display of wealth was unnecessary. However, as someone lacking in sophistication, you evidently lack the discernment to know when to exhibit decorum. Do you believe you have more money than all the dignitaries present? Foolish.”
Over the weekend, Zubby made a surprising appearance at Junior Pope’s funeral, eliciting varied reactions from observers. Ossai Success Ovie, an aide to the Delta State Governor, expressed disappointment with Zubby’s choice of attire, describing his red T-shirt as both irritating and disrespectful to the deceased.
Angela Okorie also criticized Zubby’s presence at the funeral, suggesting that it was motivated more by a desire for self-promotion than genuine affection for the deceased. She further disparaged his attire, likening it to that of an occultist.
Following Junior Pope’s passing, Zubby faced criticism from netizens for his perceived lack of public mourning, despite serving as the best man at the deceased’s wedding. Responding to these criticisms, Zubby urged his detractors to refrain from judgment, emphasizing that not every sentiment needs to be shared online.
Angela Okorie insinuated that Zubby refrained from posting about Junior Pope’s death because he was preoccupied with other matters, including his pursuit of industry dominance.
Additionally, Angela highlighted the fact that Zubby had served as Junior Pope’s best man at his wedding, yet failed to publicly acknowledge him upon his death.
