In a tragic incident reported by the Lagos State Police Command, a private security guard named Yusuf Akadogo lost his life after being stabbed during a minor altercation. According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred on Thursday evening around 9:20 pm at Igbira Road, Idi-Araba area of Lagos State.
The police received a distress call from a concerned community member regarding a disturbance at the location. Upon arrival at the scene, eyewitnesses provided an account of what transpired. It was reported that the security guard intervened in a dispute involving an okada rider (motorcycle taxi rider) and another individual.
Unexpectedly, the okada rider allegedly turned aggressive towards the security guard and stabbed him in the stomach with a knife. The victim was immediately rushed to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts by medical personnel, Yusuf Akadogo tragically succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The assailant, identified only as the okada rider, fled the scene immediately after the attack. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect, and the area is currently under surveillance as efforts to locate him continue.
In a separate incident unrelated to the stabbing, SP Benjamin Hundeyin also mentioned that police arrested four individuals accused of breaking into a musical instrument warehouse in the Ikota area of Lagos. The suspects were apprehended following a report of theft by the warehouse owner, who stated that goods worth millions of naira had been stolen.
The police investigation revealed that the theft was allegedly orchestrated by a man named Pastor, who is currently at large. Efforts are underway to apprehend Pastor and recover the stolen items. The 25-year-old security man and a 33-year-old supervisor, both in possession of warehouse keys, were also arrested in connection with the theft.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing as the police continue their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of residents in Lagos State.
