“NFF President Gusau Dismisses Reports of Finidi George’s One-Year Contract, Confirms Until 2026 FIFA World Cup

NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau, has refuted claims suggesting that Super Eagles head coach, Finidi George, is under a one-year contract. Despite earlier reports of a one-year deal with the option for an extension, Gusau clarified that Finidi is committed to leading the team until the culmination of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on Soccer Africa, a popular TV show in South Africa, Gusau emphasized the long-term nature of Finidi’s tenure and outlined the federation’s objectives for the coach. He highlighted targets such as qualification for the upcoming Nations Cup, reaching at least the semi-finals, securing World Cup qualification, and aiming for the quarter-finals in the global tournament.

Gusau stressed the importance of setting clear targets in the contract to optimize performance and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve these goals under Finidi’s leadership.”
