Nigerian music icon Onyeka Onwenu is set to be buried today, August 30, 2024. The funeral service will be held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, with the burial taking place at Lekki Vaults and Gardens, Lagos.
Onwenu, affectionately known as the Elegant Stallion, passed away on July 30, 2024, at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja. Her death followed a performance at the birthday celebration of Stella Okoli, Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceutical. Witnesses reported that Onwenu collapsed shortly after her performance and was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Onwenu was celebrated for her powerful voice and impactful lyrics that often tackled social issues. Her passing has been deeply felt by fans and colleagues, both in Nigeria and internationally.
