In response to the escalating insecurity in the North-West, Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle has arrived in Sokoto State, accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa, to bolster efforts against banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism in the region. This visit underscores the government’s strong commitment to restoring peace in the violence-stricken areas of Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, and Kebbi States.

Donning full military regalia, Matawalle expressed deep concern over the persistent activities of terrorists and bandits in the region and vowed that security forces would leave no stone unturned in their mission to eliminate these threats. “We are determined to flush out the bandits and ensure the safety of our people,” he asserted.

Matawalle’s presence, along with top military leaders, is seen as a crucial step in boosting the morale of the troops stationed in the North-West. This move is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of ground forces as they intensify efforts to combat the rising tide of violence.

Reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating terrorism, Matawalle emphasized that the government would not rest until peace and security are fully restored in the affected areas. The visit is anticipated to significantly impact ongoing efforts to curb the violence and restore stability to the region.
