Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria’s People Party (NNPP), has accused the federal government of attempting to disrupt the peace in Kano State based on advice from the previous administration. His remarks were made during the launch of the 82-kilometer Madobi rural road project, where he also addressed the ongoing emirate crisis in Kano State.
Speaking in Hausa, Kwankwaso asserted his commitment to supporting the governor in maintaining peace and harmony in Kano. He condemned what he described as efforts by certain individuals, whom he labeled as enemies of the state, to advise the federal government towards actions that could lead to a state of emergency in Kano. He emphasized that the people of Kano would not allow such destabilization to occur.
“Some desperate politicians want to destabilize the state, but we would rather both sides lose than let them crush us unnecessarily,” Kwankwaso declared, underscoring his resolve to confront any political victimization with readiness to fight. He warned against undermining the governor’s constitutional duties, stressing that the people of Kano are prepared to resist any such attempts.
Despite his strong stance, Senator Kwankwaso expressed openness to dialogue and reconciliation, signaling a willingness to resolve conflicts through peaceful means. His statements reflect ongoing political tensions in Kano State, where issues surrounding governance and local leadership have sparked significant controversy and debate.
