The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Malam Aminu Magaji-Idris, has highlighted significant legislative accomplishments achieved by the 8th Assembly since its inception in June 2023. According to Magaji-Idris, the assembly has successfully passed 15 bills out of the 20 received, with the remaining five bills progressing through second reading and committee stages.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina, Magaji-Idris emphasized the assembly’s dedication to enhancing the lives of citizens through legislative actions aimed at driving development across the state. He outlined key bills enacted, including the Katsina State Geographic Information Service Bill, 2023, the Katsina State Development Management Board Bill, 2023, and the Establishment of Katsina State Community Watch Corps Bill, 2023.
Additionally, the assembly passed significant laws such as the Katsina State Revenue Administration (Codification and Consolidation) Law, Katsina State Supplementary Appropriation Bill No. 1, 2023, and the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2023. Magaji-Idris noted amendments to existing laws, including the Katsina State District Court (Amendment) Law, 2023, and the Katsina State Geographic Information Service (Amendment) Law, 2024.
He underscored that these legislative achievements underscore the assembly’s commitment to improving the welfare of Katsina State residents. Magaji-Idris expressed confidence that the assembly, under the leadership of Speaker Alhaji Nasir Yahaya and supported by dedicated lawmakers, will continue to pursue impactful initiatives for the benefit of the state’s populace.
