The Kano State Police Command has expressed its dismay over an incident where Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was booed by unidentified individuals while returning to his palace after Eid prayers. The incident occurred when the Emir took an alternate route as part of his religious duties. SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, issued a statement in Kano condemning the actions of those involved.
According to Kiyawa, the booing occurred in the vicinity of Festival Primary School and Zage/Zango areas. The police command emphasized that they are closely monitoring all Sallah (Eid al-Adha) events to maintain law and order. Adequate security measures have been put in place to address any potential security threats during the celebrations.
Kiyawa warned individuals against causing chaos or disturbing the peace during the festivities, stating that the police have deployed sufficient personnel to apprehend anyone attempting to disrupt the order. He also cautioned the public against carrying weapons, emphasizing that rigorous stop-and-search operations are being conducted across all Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Kano to ensure a peaceful celebration.
The statement underscores the police command’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment during religious celebrations and urges the public to cooperate by refraining from actions that could lead to unrest or violence.
