The Police Command in Kano State has taken a proactive step by banning Durbar activities during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. This decision, as articulated by Usaini Gumel, the state Commissioner of Police, aims to uphold peace amidst security concerns related to the Kano Emirateship Tussle.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Gumel emphasized that the ban on Durbar activities is crucial to maintaining peace in the state. The decision was made in collaboration with relevant security stakeholders to prevent any potential clashes or disruptions during the festive period.
Gumel clarified that while Durbar celebrations are prohibited, worshippers are encouraged to perform their Eid Prayers at designated praying grounds, adhering to traditional practices. He also highlighted the police’s commitment to enforcing existing court orders and ensuring compliance from all parties involved in the Emirateship dispute.
Moreover, the Commissioner urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly. This call for cooperation underscores the command’s dedication to fostering a safe and secure environment for all residents of Kano State during the Eid festivities and beyond.
