Governor Adeleke has rallied support for the rehabilitation of the collapsed amphitheater at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).

Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed his devastation over the collapse of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Amphitheatre roof. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor conveyed his prayers for the quick recovery of the injured students and assured them of the state government’s support. Adeleke directed the Commissioner for Education to collaborate with the university authorities to provide necessary interventions to mitigate the impact on the affected individuals. He urged the people of the state to stand in solidarity with the institution and injured students, offering any available support, including blood donations if needed.

The governor emphasized his hope for the swift recovery of the injured students and expressed confidence that OAU would overcome this challenge and continue its pursuit of academic excellence.

The institution’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Simeon Bamire, confirmed that the injured students received prompt medical attention, and academic and administrative activities continue while the Amphitheatre remains closed for assessment and repair.
