Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has allocated farmlands to the 26 members of the state House of Assembly to enhance food security within the state. This initiative aligns with the broader agricultural resurgence and food security goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
During a ceremony in his office in Abeokuta, Abiodun presented the lawmakers with letters of allocation to commemorate the first anniversary of the 10th Assembly. He emphasized that this gesture is meant to empower the legislators to actively contribute to making Ogun State the food basket of the country. Abiodun encouraged the lawmakers to utilize the allocated agricultural land effectively, promoting the principle of growing what they eat and eating what they grow.
Abiodun praised the assembly members for their commitment to democracy, good governance, and the welfare of Ogun State’s citizens. He highlighted their significant role in driving the state’s progress and development through their dedication to legislative excellence. Over the past year, the assembly has passed numerous bills and resolutions aimed at improving the lives of the people in Ogun State.
The governor commended their tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and collaborative spirit with the executive, which he noted had contributed to making Ogun State one of the best in the country.
Speaker Oludaisi Elemide reflected on the past year as turbulent and filled with tension but affirmed that the assembly’s commitment to providing purposeful representation helped them navigate the challenges. He expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for the comprehensive renovation and restoration of the assembly complex and assured the governor of the assembly’s continued cooperation in enacting laws that would expedite the socio-economic development of Ogun State.
