Lamuwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been queried by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) following allegations of sexual harassment. The query was issued in accordance with civil service rules and regulations, as confirmed by Muhammed Ahmed, Deputy Director of Communication at the OHCSF. The purpose of the query is to provide Lamuwa with an opportunity to respond to the allegations and ensure a fair hearing. Ahmed emphasized that the case will undergo a thorough investigation without interference, following established civil service procedures.
The allegations arose from Simisola Ajayi, an employee within the ministry, and were officially brought to the attention of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, based on a petition facilitated by Ajayi’s legal counsel, Femi Falana. Tuggar highlighted the seriousness of the allegations in his communication with the OHCSF, requesting their intervention in the matter.
While the deadline for Lamuwa’s response has not been publicly confirmed, there are unverified reports suggesting that he may have been requested to step aside temporarily to prevent any potential interference with the investigation.
