It seems there was an error in the text regarding the designation of ISIS. Let me correct and clarify that for you.

The correct text should not mention ISIS in relation to the FBI Director’s remarks. Here’s a revised version:

President Bola Tinubu has called for stronger collaboration between Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the fight against cybercrime, terrorism, and other related crimes.

The President made the call during a meeting with FBI Director, Christopher Asher Wray, at the State House on Friday in Abuja.

Tinubu described the presence of the FBI Director alongside his team in Nigeria as a recognition of the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the U.S. in the fight against financial crimes and terrorism.

Security chiefs who attended the meeting included the National Security Adviser, Mallam Babagana Monguno; Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; and Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi.

Also in attendance were the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa; and the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), Rear Admiral Yaminu Musa.

Tinubu emphasized the importance of collaboration in eliminating crimes locally and globally, highlighting Nigeria’s role as the Chairman of ECOWAS in enhancing regional security efforts.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to using education as a tool against poverty, which is often linked to criminal activities.

“We are working tirelessly to combat terrorism, cybercrimes, and sextortion, and I am pleased that we have robust agencies dedicated to reducing these crimes to their minimal levels, all of which are well represented at this meeting,” said Tinubu.

Recognizing the complexity of combating international financial crimes, he urged the U.S. to support developing countries with technology and knowledge transfers essential for tackling these challenges effectively.

In his response, FBI Director Wray expressed his visit’s purpose to bolster the “outstanding partnership” between Nigeria and the U.S. governments.

He commended Tinubu for fostering collaboration among various government agencies and the FBI to safeguard citizens of both nations.

“We appreciate President Tinubu’s leadership in countering terrorism in the region, a serious threat not only to West African nations but also to the United States,” said Wray.

He praised Nigeria’s efforts in enhancing the Office of the National Security Adviser’s role in coordinating counter-terrorism activities, resulting in successful operations against terrorist groups like Boko Haram and others.

“We appreciate your support in tackling cyber-enabled crimes and sextortion, which tragically resulted in several deaths in the United States,” said Wray.

He assured Tinubu of the FBI’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in counter-terrorism efforts, cybercrime investigations, kidnapping, joint intelligence sharing, and investigations.

“Our partnership with Nigeria is crucial, whether it’s in counter-terrorism, cyber-enabled crimes, or intelligence sharing,” concluded the FBI Director.
