“Nigeria’s D’Tigress Leap to Eighth in FIBA Rankings After Historic Olympic Run”

Nigeria’s D’Tigress have surged to eighth place in the latest FIBA rankings, marking a significant rise of four positions. This boost follows their impressive performance in the women’s basketball event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Under the guidance of coach Rena Wakama, the team made headlines by defeating top-ranked Australia and Canada during the group stage. They also achieved a historic milestone as the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympics, though they were eventually eliminated by the United States.

This rise in the FIBA rankings is a notable achievement, as no African team, male or female, had ever previously entered the top 10.
