The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) responded swiftly to a distress call regarding a serious road accident involving a green van loaded with crates of eggs and a truck. According to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, the accident occurred near a Mobil filling station after Otedola Bridge, heading towards Alausa.
Upon arrival at the scene, LASEMA observed that the green van, registered as MUS 919 YA, had collided head-on with a truck. The van was reportedly traveling at excessive speed, leading to significant damage to both vehicles and causing severe injuries to its occupants.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but two adult males sustained severe injuries. LASEMA’s paramedics and LASAMBUS provided immediate pre-hospital care to the injured before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The damaged van was subsequently recovered with the assistance of a tow truck and taken to the nearest police station to prevent any secondary incidents. Additionally, due to the spilled contents of broken egg crates on the road, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service intervened to clean and flush the area, minimizing potential hazards.
The agencies involved, including LASEMA, LASAMBUS, and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, collaborated effectively to manage the aftermath of the accident and ensure public safety in the area.
This incident underscores the importance of adhering to speed limits and road safety regulations to prevent such accidents and their consequences.
