Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of several #EndBadGovernance protesters at the Kuje Correctional Centre, pending a ruling on their bail application scheduled for September 11, 2024. The protesters, who pled not guilty, face six terrorism-related charges, including treason and destabilisation of the country.
The charges, filed on August 30, 2024, have raised serious concerns, with prosecution counsel Simon Lough, SAN, opposing bail due to the severity of the accusations. Among the defendants is British citizen Andrew Wynne, also known as Andrew Povich.
The court’s decision to remand the accused in correctional facilities underscores the seriousness of the allegations and foreshadows a significant legal battle ahead.
