A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an arrest warrant for British citizen Andrew Wynne, along with several Nigerians, on charges of treason and terrorism. The warrant was granted by Justice Emeka Nwite following an ex-parte motion filed by the Inspector-General of Police and presented by lawyer Audu Garba.

The charges against Wynne and the other individuals, including Lucky Ehis Obiyan and Comrade Abdullahi Musa, involve allegations of conspiracy, incitement to mutiny, inciting disaffection towards the government, and terrorism. These accusations are linked to a plot to unlawfully remove President Bola Tinubu from office.

The court was informed that the defendants are also accused of orchestrating violent attacks in August 2024, which included the burning of the High Court Complex, the NCC office, and the Printing Press in Kano. They are also implicated in assaults on the Government House in Kano, the Kaduna Investment and Promotions Agency’s office, the NURTW office, and several other buildings.

The court’s decision to issue the arrest warrant allows law enforcement agencies across the country to actively pursue and detain the fleeing defendants. The move follows the remand of 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters, who were arraigned on similar charges of treason earlier this week. Justice Nwite deemed the motion for the arrest warrant “meritorious,” emphasizing the severity of the charges involved.
