The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has announced that the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the chairmanship and ward councillor seats in the local council elections held on Saturday.
KESIEC Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Muhammad-Mera, made the announcement in Birnin Kebbi, revealing that the APC secured all 21 chairmanship seats and 225 ward councillor positions. The elections saw participation from 17 political parties, including APC, NNPP, LP, AAC, Boot Party, AP, and SDP.
Muhammad-Mera expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and smooth conduct of the elections and praised the security agencies and all stakeholders for their support. He also confirmed that the results for both chairmanship and councillorship positions, as declared by the various councils’ Returning Officers and at the electoral wards, were ratified and adopted.
The PDP had previously boycotted the elections, alleging that KESIEC’s leadership, including the Chairman and Commissioners, were affiliated with the APC, which they claimed would undermine fairness in the electoral process.
