The Islamic cleric, Dr. Tajudeen Adebayo, offered comforting words to Muslims facing economic hardship ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. He advised that those unable to afford a ram for sacrifice this year should not despair but look forward to better times ahead.
Dr. Adebayo, Chief Imam of Falomo Central Mosque in Lagos State, emphasized the importance of affluent Muslims extending kindness and generosity to those less fortunate. He reassured believers that the essence of the sacrifice lies not in the meat or blood offered but in the piety and sincerity with which the sacrifice is made.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Dr. Adebayo urged Muslims to reflect on the spiritual significance of Eid beyond mere festivities. He reminded them of the trials faced by Prophet Ibrahim, which ultimately led to the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
“As Muslims, we should understand that Eid was not initially a moment of happiness, but it evolved into one,” he remarked, encouraging adherence to spiritual growth and the lessons of sacrifice and resilience embodied in the Eid celebration.
Muslims worldwide are preparing to observe Eid-el-Kabir in 2024, marking a significant occasion in the Islamic calendar.
