“Fubara Declares Victory as Opponents Face Defeat”

< 1 mn read

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, made a bold declaration on Thursday, asserting that he had emerged victorious in his battles against opponents who were now wary and vigilant. He expressed confidence in overcoming challenges, asserting that despite detractors’ plans, he was still in office, nearing his first anniversary.

The governor’s statement comes amidst a simmering feud with his predecessor and estranged political godfather, Nyesom Wike. Last October, Fubara narrowly escaped an impeachment plot orchestrated by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to Wike. Additionally, nine members of his cabinet, aligned with Wike, recently tendered their resignations and left their posts.

Addressing the national and state leadership of the Ijaw Youth Council during a visit to the Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara conveyed his appreciation for their support and solidarity. He assured them that despite their willingness to stand by him, there was no need for further action as he believed they had already emerged victorious over their adversaries.

The Ijaw Youth Council leadership had embarked on a solidarity walk to commemorate the Isaac Adaka Boro Day, demonstrating their support for Fubara’s administration. Fubara’s confident declaration reflects his determination to navigate political challenges and maintain his position despite opposition from influential figures within Rivers State politics.
