Nigerian singer Spyro has publicly shared his struggles with fornication and its impact on his conscience.
On September 3, 2024, Spyro took to Instagram to open up about the internal conflict he has experienced regarding his faith and sexual behavior. He admitted that while sex initially brought him pleasure, it soon became a source of deep moral and spiritual struggle.
“SEX felt good till I could no longer bear struggling with my conscience,” Spyro confessed. He elaborated on how engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage caused him significant unease, feeling as though a part of him was taken away each time.
The singer explained, “Every time I ‘forget,’ knowing I ain’t married to the person, I feel troubled, like a part of me gets taken right after … I struggled for a while but I kept praying for strength and when the time came, I disengaged from all lingering connects at the time.”
Spyro acknowledged that his journey toward celibacy has been challenging, especially when traveling and encountering temptations. He humorously noted the difficulties posed by promoters and the attention from fans, but affirmed his commitment to remain faithful.
“It hasn’t been easy especially when I travel and these clean girls begin to get funny around me 🤦🏾♂️ and promoters never make it easy too but now they know 🤣 but yea I am keeping this bed for ONE now.”
He also playfully addressed a hypothetical scenario, writing, “I ask myself tho ‘what will happen if NENGI then comes along ‘🤔 that one go hard sha but no going back o 😁 So you see, I mean every bit of this song and if you see me getting funny anywhere pls feel free to report me to my pastor or my family.”
Spyro’s candid admission reflects his commitment to change and his desire to adhere to his faith, even amidst the challenges of his public life.
