Rangers manager Philippe Clement has called on Cyriel Dessers to be more clinical in front of goal following their 3-0 defeat to Celtic in the Old Firm derby on Sunday. Dessers missed a crucial chance early in the match that could have given Rangers the lead.
Clement highlighted the missed opportunity as a turning point, noting that Dessers’ chance, along with a header from Rabbi Matondo, were pivotal moments in the game. “We started the game really well, we had the best of the ball in the first ten minutes, got two really good opportunities, with Cyriel coming free in front of goal and with Rabbi’s free header there,” Clement said in his post-match press conference. “So you need to be clinical in those games, and to come in front it changes the momentum. It would have helped the team a lot to go in front there.”
Despite the setback, Dessers has had a productive season, scoring five goals and registering one assist in seven appearances across all competitions for Rangers.
