Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has appointed Brig.-Gen. Abdulkadir Gumi (rtd) as the Acting Chairman of the Security Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
Malam Abubakar Nakwada, Secretary to the Zamfara State Government (SSG), announced the appointment in Gusau on Sunday, stating that it takes immediate effect. The appointment follows the resignation of the former Inspector-General of Police, I-GP MD Abubakar (rtd), who was the inaugural Board Chairman.
Nakwada noted that Gumi’s appointment was based on his impressive credentials and the quality leadership he demonstrated during his active military service. Governor Lawal expressed confidence that Gumi would effectively lead the Board in its mission to mobilize resources to support security agencies in combating banditry and kidnapping in Zamfara.
The Security Trust Fund was established by Governor Lawal shortly after he took office to bolster the state’s security infrastructure. Nakwada urged all stakeholders to support Gumi in his new role, aiming to enhance the security framework and assist security forces across Zamfara State.
Brig.-Gen. Gumi, brother to the Islamic scholar Dr. Ahmed Gumi, previously served as the Director of Legal Services in the Nigerian Army.
