Aderinoye Queen Christmas, a former beauty queen, has surrendered to the Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after evading arrest for eight months.
The NDLEA had declared Christmas wanted following a raid on her Lekki residence in January 2024, where they uncovered evidence of drug dealing. Despite escaping arrest and going into hiding, she turned herself in on August 28, 2024, admitting that she had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed the development, detailing the items recovered from Christmas’s home, including 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a synthetic cannabis strain), an electronic weighing scale, drug packaging materials, and a black RAV4 SUV.
Christmas, who was Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and founder of the Queen Christmas Foundation, was initially sought after a raid at her Lekki apartment revealed her alleged involvement in illicit drug activities.
In addition, the NDLEA reported significant drug seizures, including 31 million pills and bottles of opioids valued at N17.9 billion. Recent operations at the Tincan port in Lagos led to the recovery of 350,000 bottles of codeine-based syrup from two containers.
