WIKE TO CRITICS: ‘HUG A TRANSFORMER’ IF YOU’RE ANGRY ABOUT MY SUPPORT FOR TINUBU

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and a prominent member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that he is unapologetic about his involvement in President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Wike, who previously served as the Governor of Rivers State, remains defiant in the face of criticism for aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

During the PDP Congress in Rivers on August 31, 2024, Wike addressed his critics, stating, “We are fully engaged in Tinubu’s government, and I have no regrets. If anyone is upset about my decision, they can go and hug a transformer.”

Wike’s decision to support Tinubu has sparked controversy, particularly because of his reported opposition to his party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 election. This has led some within the PDP to call for sanctions against him.

Despite the backlash, Wike remains resolute in his stance and has expressed full confidence in his position. He also took aim at his successor, Governor Siminalyi Fubara, and other PDP governors who support Fubara, warning that any attempts to challenge his influence in Rivers State would be met with fierce opposition.

Wike cautioned, “I will bring turmoil to their states. If you choose to disturb the peace that God has granted you, you will face the consequences. Whether you’re in Bauchi or anywhere else, you won’t experience peace again.”

Wike’s remarks highlight his unwavering commitment to his role in the Tinubu administration and his determination to maintain control over the PDP’s affairs in Rivers State.
