During a period of exile due to a coup in Ghana, Mahama lived with his stepmother in Offa for several years. His connection to the town was formally recognized when he was honored with a chieftaincy title by the Olofa of Offa. Mahama holds the title of Are Atolase of Offa Kingdom, reflecting his deep ties and esteemed role within the community.
