The Police Command in Kaduna State has successfully apprehended five suspected kidnappers and one suspected car thief. This significant development was confirmed by the Command’s Spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna.
On June 15, at approximately 18:10 hours, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Maigana received a tip-off from a concerned citizen about a group of kidnappers planning to collect ransom money from the relatives of their victim. Acting swiftly, the DPO mobilized his patrol team along with members of the local vigilante group to the location. The operation led to the arrest of Shuaiabu Bala, 23, from Malanta, Gimba Village, and Safinu Musa, 22, from Bugau Village, Anchau, Kubau Local Government Area (LGA). Investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the kidnapping gang.
In another operation on June 17, the DPO of Tafa, acting on credible intelligence, mobilized a surveillance team in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) to Tafa Town, where three suspected kidnappers were arrested. The suspects, identified as Sani Amadu, 17, Sani Lawal, 20, and Aliyu Usman, 22, all residents of Dadin Kowa, Tafa LGA, Niger State, were found with incriminating evidence, including pictures and videos of banditry activities on their cell phones. The case will be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further action.
Additionally, on June 13, the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) acted on intelligence received about a suspicious individual at Kachia Road by the Railway Station Roundabout in Kaduna. The suspect, identified as Chicago Harrison of Manya Street, Ungwan Romi, Kaduna, was found with a stolen black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, 2013 model, with registration number KTU 886 JD. The vehicle was confirmed to have been stolen from Sir Dingshegyuan Plastic Processing and Manufacturing Company Limited in Sagamu, Ogun State. The suspect will be handed over to the Ogun State Police Command for further investigations.
ASP Hassan reiterated the commitment of the Kaduna State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Ali Dabigi, urging the public to continue supporting the police by promptly reporting any suspicious activities in their environment.
