The Benue State Police Command confirmed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers in Otukpo Local Government Area on Monday. The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sewuese Anene, disclosed this information to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during a phone call from Makurdi.

The suspects were apprehended by the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) at a motor park in Otukpo while attempting to board a vehicle to Makurdi. They were found in possession of a substantial sum of money, believed to be ransom collected from their victims.

Reports indicate that the BSCVG received a tip-off about the suspects’ movements, leading to their interception and subsequent arrest. The suspects were handed over to the Police in Otukpo for further investigation.

This development underscores the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement and community volunteer groups to combat kidnapping and enhance security in Benue State. Further details regarding the investigation and the suspects’ identities are expected to be released by the police in due course.
