Governor donates 12 cows to prison inmates to give them ‘sense of belonging’

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has made a generous donation of 12 cows and various food items to inmates across all Custodial Centres in the state as part of the celebrations for Eid-el Kabir. The donation, which also included 150 bags of 25kg rice, vegetable oil, onions, and seasoning, was presented to the Chairperson of the State Committee for Prerogative of Mercy, Hajiya Azumi Namadi-Bebeji.

Governor Yusuf expressed that this gesture was aimed at providing a sense of belonging to the inmates. He encouraged them to maintain good conduct and resilience as they undergo reformatory programs within the correctional facilities. The governor commended the Nigerian Correctional Service for its efforts in reforming, rehabilitating, and reintegrating inmates back into society.

Suleiman Inuwa, the Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Kano State, received the items on behalf of the Controller-General of Correction Services, Haliru Nababa. He expressed gratitude to the state government for the generous donation, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the inmates’ welfare and morale.

This initiative reflects Governor Yusuf’s commitment to supporting rehabilitation efforts and ensuring that inmates are treated with dignity and compassion during festive periods like Eid-el Kabir.
