The Kogi Government has implemented a ban on traditional processions in Koton Kafe, located in Kogi Local Government Area (LGA), citing security concerns. The decision was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, through a statement issued in Lokoja. The ban comes in response to security reports indicating potential unrest in the Koton Kafe community, allegedly due to plans by certain individuals to disrupt peace in the area.
Governor Usman Ododo’s administration, represented by Fanwo, emphasized that the ban is a proactive measure aimed at maintaining peace and stability in Koton Kafe and its surroundings. It underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring peaceful coexistence among all residents of Koton Kafe, with an open-door policy to address grievances and prevent resorting to violence.
The commissioner stressed that the ban is intended to protect the rights of the people of Koton Kafe and all citizens, warning that any violations will be dealt with firmly by law enforcement agencies. The government’s action follows the removal of Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah-Koto as the Ohimege-Igu Koton-Karfe by former Governor Yahaya Bello, with Alhaji Saidu Akawu-Salihu appointed as his replacement.
In conclusion, the ban on traditional processions in Koton Kafe reflects the government’s proactive stance to preempt potential disruptions and ensure a peaceful environment for all residents.
