“A case of kidnapping was reported to the office of the AIG by one Jona Jumai that sometime in the month of May 2024 her sister, who works as a domestic staff in Ajah area, was kidnapped by unknown persons.
“According to the complainant, the kidnappers demanded the sum of N5 million as ransom for her sister’s release. Detectives swung into action, and upon investigation, it was discovered that the supposed kidnapped victim, Miss Success Jumai, conspired with her boyfriend, one Tunde Adewale, to fake her own kidnapping.
“The suspects were arrested at their hideout in Ajah area of Lagos State, and during interrogation, they confessed to the crime. The sum of N2,470,000 which was part of the ransom collected from the complainant was recovered from them.
“In a related development, another suspect, one Miss Chinonso Eze, was arrested for allegedly stealing jewelry worth more than ₦40 million. The jewelry, which was stolen from her employer’s house, was traced to a buyer who led the police to the suspect’s location. Chinonso Eze was apprehended and the stolen jewelry recovered from her.
