Shatta Wale has recently shared his perspective on the controversy surrounding Sarkodie’s song ‘Brag’, where Sarkodie emphasized his status as one of Africa’s top rappers while referencing Nigerian stars Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake. In response, Shatta Wale commented on social media, expressing that what matters is where Sarkodie stands now, not his past achievements.

In a video where he spoke in Pidgin English and Twi, Shatta Wale said, “I get am before no be property, where are you now,” implying that Sarkodie’s current status matters more than past accomplishments.

The song ‘Brag’ sparked controversies, with some interpreting Sarkodie’s name-dropping as a subtle diss towards the Nigerian artists. This led Nigerian rapper Dremo to release three diss tracks aimed at Sarkodie, suggesting tension between them. However, Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe responded to Dremo on all occasions, and the dispute seemed to fade away quickly.

Sarkodie later clarified in an interview that his mention of Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy was not meant as a diss but rather to highlight his successful career spanning over a decade. He emphasized that the Nigerian artists would not have taken offense, and the intention was to celebrate his longevity and impact in the music industry.

The exchange between Shatta Wale and Sarkodie reflects ongoing dynamics within the African music scene, where artists navigate competition, respect, and collaboration across national boundaries.
