A 44-year-old man, Raimi Saka, was remanded in a correctional center by the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly shooting and killing a she-goat while armed. Additionally, he faces charges of possessing dangerous weapons.
Saka, whose address was not disclosed, appeared before Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe, who declined to take his plea due to jurisdictional issues. The magistrate instructed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal guidance.
The court adjourned the case until August 8 for further proceedings. According to the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Toyin Ibrahim, the incident occurred on June 1 around 9 pm in the Ayegun, Oleyo area of Ibadan. Ibrahim alleged that Saka, armed with dangerous weapons, unlawfully killed a she-goat belonging to Babatunde Azeez, an act which contravenes Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms Laws of Nigeria, 2004.
