Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has approved the release of ₦521.4 million for the Hajj preparations of Borno pilgrims. This allocation includes ₦261 million for the purchase of sacrificial animals and ₦260.4 million to cover the differential balance in pilgrims’ Basic Travel Allowance (BTA).

Senator Kaka-Shehu Lawan, Chairman of the state Amirul Hajj Committee, announced this during a briefing in Maiduguri, stating that the funding aims to ensure Borno pilgrims are well-prepared and supported for their Hajj journey. He clarified that each pilgrim will receive $500 as BTA, rectifying an earlier arrangement where they were slated to receive $415.

Lawan emphasized the state government’s commitment to pilgrim welfare and encouraged them to pray for peace and prosperity in Borno State and Nigeria as they embark on the Hajj rituals, set to commence on Friday. He expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for his continuous support to the Hajj committee, ensuring a smooth and successful exercise for all participants.
