Speaking against the backdrop of rising food prices, Archbishop Joseph Ojo, the General Overseer of Calvary Kingdom Church in Okokomaiko, Lagos, and an Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, expressed that hunger is eroding patriotism among many Nigerians. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, he reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast marking this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

Archbishop Ojo stated, “Hungry Nigerians waited patiently to hear from the president about steps taken to alleviate their sufferings. They hoped to hear that rice and gari would become cheaper and that petrol prices would be reduced. These are the foremost concerns of the suffering masses now.”

He also emphasized the urgent need for stable power to boost production, saying, “The issue of electricity should be prioritized in the scheme of things to make the Democracy Day celebration worthwhile.”
