Former Minister of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, revealed in an open letter to Rivers politician Senator George Sekibo that prominent figures like former president Goodluck Jonathan, former Rivers State governors Peter Odili and Rotimi Amaechi, who played significant roles in Nyesom Wike’s political ascent, are now estranged from the FCT minister.
Clark outlined his and other prominent Ijaw leaders’ contributions to Wike’s political journey, emphasizing their support in his bid to become the governor of Rivers State. He addressed Sekibo’s alleged misrepresentation of Ijaw interests, clarifying their stance and motivations.
Highlighting his commitment to truth and justice throughout his decades-long public life, Clark urged Sekibo to align with righteous causes and draw lessons from history.
He pointed out that Wike’s political trajectory was indebted to several individuals, including Sen. John Mbata, Sen. Andrew Uchendu, Sir Peter Odili, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, and notably, Mrs. Patience Jonathan and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
However, Clark lamented that the relationships between these influential figures and Wike have soured, indicating a significant shift in dynamics within Rivers State politics.
