Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has revealed her admiration for Ayra Starr, expressing that she is “obsessed” with the young Afrobeats sensation.
In a recent interview with Kiss FM, UK, Savage explained that she is particularly fond of Ayra Starr due to their shared experiences. Savage criticized those who condemn Ayra for her short skirts, suggesting instead that she should make them even shorter.
Reflecting on her own career, Savage recounted the heavy criticism she faced for her “sexy” fashion choices and “risky” lyrics when she first started out. She emphasized that despite facing similar criticism from Nigerians, Ayra Starr continues to thrive on the global music scene.
Praising Ayra’s talent and appearance, Savage stated, “I love Ayra [Starr]. I’m obsessed with her. She’s amazing and genuine, too. It makes me emotional because when I started, I got criticised a lot for dressing too sexy and my lyrics being too risky.
“So, seeing someone, Ayra now…If I see her wearing the short skirts as they [critics] say, I’m like, ‘Make it shorter.’
“And she looks amazing, she’s extremely talented. Yeah, she’s a star.”
